Dr. Christian Rummel obtained his PhD in theoretical nuclear physics at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). Thereafter he started investigating physiological time series as recorded from electroencephalograms of epilepsy patients. After a postdoc at the Department of Neurology at the Inselspital he joined the SCAN in 2010.

His current primary research interest is morphometric analysis of T1-weighted MRI. These techniques are used during evaluation of epilepsy patients for surgical therapy as well as to monitor disease progression in multiple sclerosis patients. Beyond structural MRI, Dr Rummel is responsible for our near infrared spectroscopy system and for our simultaneous EEG-fMRI program.
